The medieval castrum of Ename is the seat of the lords of Verdun in the period 990-1024. It contains a palace building or aula, a keep, an access gate, some utilitarian buildings and a fenced area, possibly for horses for the soldiers guarding the castrum, the harbour and the neighborhood.
