Ottonian palace building of Ename (Belgium) around 1015
The Ottonian palace building or aula is the residence of the lords of Verdun in the period 990-1024. The main volume contains a kitchen and storage room on the ground floor and a large hall and chapel on the top floor, while the square annex on the ground floor is probably the living room of the lord and his family. When Benedictine monks start the Ename abbey in 1063, they use this building to live in while they are building the new abbey.
