Low-resolution 3D model of the "David di Donatello" marble statue - 3D model generated through Laser Triangulation 3D Scanning; triangulated surface mesh, reduced complexity from master model, topologically clean, usable for rendering and 3D printing: 2 millions triangles - Digitization By Visual Computing Lab, ISTI-CNR (http://vcg.isti.cnr.it) - The digitization was aimed at creating a physical copy of the object for a temporary exposition, this lower-resolution model of the whole statue was used to carve the copy.
Early sculpture of Donatello, this marble statue dates back to 1408-1409. Made to be placed in the Florence Cathedral, was later on moved to Palazzo Vecchio, and now it is conserved at the Museo nazionale del Bargello in Florence.
