Insula V 1 - Master 3D model
Whole Insula V 1 master 3D model - 2cm resolution - 40 millions triangles - Time-of-Flight Interference 3D laser scanning - geometry only.
3D digitization by Visual Computing Lab, ISTI-CNR and Lund University - 3D Scanning campaign of the whole Insula V 1 of Pompeii, in the framework of a collaboration between ISTI-CNR and Lund University.
The city of Pompeii was an ancient Roman town-city near modern Naples, Italy. Destroyed during the 79 A.D. eruption of the Vesuvio volcano, but incredibly well preserved under the lava and ashes of the eruption, is nowadays one of the most famous popular tourist attractions in Italy, with approximately 2.5 million visitors every year, it has UNESCO World Heritage Site status.
