Badia Camaldolese, Volterra: 3D point cloud of the church - 3D digitization using a time-of-flight interference laser scanner, point-cloud processed in MeshLab. Raw scans have been aligned using ICP geometric alignment, the resulting cloud (18 millions of points) contains points + normals + reflectance. 3D digitization by Visual Computing Lab, ISTI-CNR - Survey carried out in the framework of the ArTeSalVa Project, aimed at the study, documentation and enhancement of historic buildings currently in a state of decay or underused. The Camaldolese abbey complex was built around 1030. It was enlarged and decorated between the 17th and 18th centuries. It was abandoned in the middle of 19th century and in the last few years it has been partially restored. The church, now in ruin, is still a focal point of the complex, and is used for outdoor events.
