Images of 3D model of statue of falling Amazzone
Immagine del modello 3D della statua rappresentante l'Amazzone Caduta (MANN, inv.6012). Il corpo dell'Amazzone è parzialmente coperto da un chitone corto; il capo è cinto da una folta capigliatura. L’espressione che promana dagli occhi sbarrati e della bocca è profondamente tragica e teatrale. La statua è una copia della statua facente parte del gruppo eretto sull’Acropoli di Atene da Attalo II di Pergamo, dopo la vittoria sui Galati nel 165 a.C., un monumento che celebrava la gloria della dinastia degli Attalidi, con uno stile baroccheggiante, tipico della scuola pergamena. Il tema di fondo riguardava quattro battaglie, due mitiche (Gigantomachia e Amazzonomachia) e due storiche (battaglia di Maratona e Galatomachia).
