3D digital scanning of the Naxos Sphinx |
Description
|
The French team at Archeovision decided to recreate the Naxos sphinx in marble, using a 3D digital scanning camera and a robot a computer driven stone carving machine.
The first step was to make a digital map and model of the sphinx using a 3D digital camera and a computer. Archeovision wanted to work directly with the original in the Delphi Museum, but due to a remodelling of the Museum in preparation for the 2004 Olympics, that was not possible. So they went to Lyon to scan its 1901 plaster copy.(source http://www.ancientworlds.net/aw/Article/690208) |
