The belfry is located at the southwest side of the Metropolitan Church of St. John the Baptist, in the old city of Xanthi. It has three floors, five bells and it is built of reinforced mixed concrete, combining a mixture of classical and Byzantine characteristics. The current belfry replaced an older that was located at the northwest of the temple.
