Place on an ancient Roman road in Tassullo, Valer Castle was built around the original octagonal tower, with its 40 meters is the highest in the Trentino. The castle was erected in 1211 when it was owned by the Counts of Appiano. Then passed to the counts of Tyrol and in 1368 to Spaur, the family to which it belongs today. The walls of Valer Castle incorporate the two main buildings, the oldest "Castel di sotto" and "Castel di sopra" of XVI century, where Gothic and Romanesque architectural elements are mixed with those of the sixteenth century.
